Now on to today’s topic, “Be the Hero” by Noah Blumenthal, a book I wholeheartedly recommend that you should all read.
Be the Hero is a unique guidebook on how to approach life’s challenges and turn negative thoughts into positive actions. Although the underlying premise is not original (what book is) the presentation and impact of this book touched me like no other book I have read on this topic.
Be the Hero reveals that each of us has the power to choose whether to be a passive, put-upon victim or a hero in control of their life and career, and Noah uses the accessible and popular parable format to teach important life-lessons. What’s more, the author included an extensive section of tools, exercises and other resources that work; and I can say this from my own first hand knowledge having personally applied some of Noah’s wisdom over the past few weeks.
“At times we all feel frustrated, stressed, or out of control. What if you could be at your best when your challenges are on the rise? Well, you can. Be the Hero introduces us to the way of the “Everyday Hero” and shows how to turn self-defeating thoughts and behavior into heroic actions. The trick is in the stories we tell ourselves. All day long, without even realizing it, we tell ourselves dozens of stories–about other people, our situations, and ourselves–stories that shape our emotions and behavior. These stories are so powerful, they make us think and act like either a hero or a victim. Be the Hero shows you how to choose the stories that lead to personal and professional success.” (Amazon Books)
A victim mentality is rampant in our lives today, especially for those people who are out of work and find the pressures in their new lifestyle are spinning out of control. This book will help you overcome them and get on a path back to normalcy. Your life may not return to what it was overnight, but your peace of mind will.
As a resume writer and career coach what I found most impressive is how the author writes this book in the style of a novel using fictional characters and situations that you and I can relate to. In Be the Hero Noah shows us how every day of our lives we consciously and subconsciously create heroes, villains and victims in our minds, and then he teaches us how to begin the process of helping rather than hurting ourselves and making a positive impact on all the people in our lives by simply applying a new mindset.
I hope you get as much inspiration from this book as I have; either way after you’re done reading it let me know what you think.
